Understanding comes before photography.

Every photograph begins long before I pick up the camera.

Before I think about composition, light or perspective, I want to understand what success looks like for my client.

A cruise line wants to strengthen its brand. A design studio wants its original vision to remain visible. A contractor wants future clients to recognise the quality of its craftsmanship.

The photographs may look similar. Their purpose never does.

Understanding those differences has become the foundation of my work.

Photography had been my dream for as long as I can remember. Growing up in East Germany, however, career choices were often determined by what the system needed rather than by individual passion. My dream of becoming a photographer had to wait.

Instead, I spent many years working with premium brands including BMW and Mercedes-Benz before becoming a business consultant for independent Bang & Olufsen retailers. My work extended far beyond sales. I helped entrepreneurs develop successful businesses — from site selection and marketing strategy to customer experience and visual merchandising.

Looking back, I realise these years became one of the greatest strengths of my photography. They taught me to listen before offering solutions. To understand commercial objectives before creating images. And to see every project through my client’s eyes.

Today, that understanding shapes every assignment. Whether I am photographing a newly delivered cruise ship, a luxury yacht, an architectural interior or a historic manor house, my objective remains the same: to create photographs that don’t simply document spaces, but communicate ideas, strengthen brands and reveal the people and craftsmanship behind them.
